Kelty Baby Carrier

Kelty is a manufacturer of outdoor sporting and camping goods and have become known for the excellent quality of all their products. Unsurprisingly there is a nice Kelty baby carrier range especially meant for hiking. They were the first company to offer child carriers to be used in outdoor activities.

Something to consider when choosing your Kelty baby carrier is how you intend to use it. Yes you are going to take your little one out for walks – but for how long and for how far? Are you expecting to go for the occasional walk in the park? Or are you more likely to be going on long hiking holidays through the wilderness? This is important so as to decide the size and durability of your carrier as well as additional compartments required.

Don’t forget that the carrying weight includes your baby and any items carried. And while that may be sufficient today – will it be next year or the year after as your baby grows? A Kelty baby carrier will also be perfect as a toddler carrier but this will impact upon the other goods that you can carry in your backpack.

The Kelty Baby Carrier Range.

The base model is the Mijo, a simple basic model that is perfect for walks in the park or a day of running errands. This is your ‘every day’ carrier that is made to the same top quality you would expect from Kelty – but not an actual hiking or backpack carrier like those below.

The Tour 1.0 has a suspension system that is adjustable, a system that ensures that makes it easy for the child to get in and out of the carrier, and a patented Auto-Deploy Kickstand that gives you a safe way to load and unload your child.

Next up is the Junction 2.0 which has a 5-point harness that is adjustable for your baby and it easily adjusts in length and in the torso for a perfect fit for mom and dad. Perfect for an afternoon of hiking.

The Transit 3.0 is just the carrier for active families as well as travelers. It is light and compact folding up to fit into the overhead compartment on a plane, in the trunk of your car, or even in the backseat. It received the “Babble Favorite Baby Carrier” award from the parenting blog Babble.com.

Created for the comfort and safety of parents and their little ones, the Journey 2.0 has the patented Auto-Deploy Kickstand, the 5-Point Harness, and their No-Pinch hinges. The removable sun shade will keep baby protected from the glare of the sun, and the padded harness, shoulder straps, and waist belt add to mom and dad’s comfort levels.

The Pathfinder 3.0 is for serious outdoor fanatics and is a top of the range hiking baby carrier. It has an improved adjustable suspension system that is easier to get to and provides a perfect fit for the parent. It has a 5-point harness and leg-secure straps. The daypack can be zipped off when you don’t need to use it but you’ll be glad to have it when you do. It has a pad for changing diapers and a compartment to handle beverages for hiking excursions.

A handy accessory for all the above Kelty baby carrier product range is the Kelty frame sun hood with a mesh window + weather and brush protection. Just fix it over baby using hook and loop attachments.

Finally we have the Wallaby which is different from each Kelty baby carrier above in that it is certainly not a hiking backpack carrier. However it most definitely adheres to the quality standards we expect from Kelty with padded seat, waistband and shoulder straps. It can also be used as a front facing baby carrier.

Infantino Carrier

It’s hard to tell who the Infantino company loves more – babies or their Moms. Their focus is on providing quality baby carriers that help parents take care of the children with ease. They are dedicated to safe products that are reasonably priced yet offer well-thought out details. Mesh fabrics keep each Infantino baby carrier cool and comfortable. There is always a focus on the backs and shoulders of Moms and Dads with extra wide straps and lumbar support in even the most basic Infantino baby carrier.

Infantino baby carrier range.

The company realizes that there isn’t just one Infantino baby carrier that works for everyone so there are many different styles, lots of fun patterns and colors, and so many different ways of strapping on your little one for a happy babywearing experience. Take a look at the great line of Infantino carriers:

Fusion.

This Infantino baby carrier is in it for the long haul. You can use this when your baby is small up through his or her toddler years. The adjustable seat offers a number of carrying choices. The wide lumbar belt helps support your back and the straps adjust easily to give you the proper weight distribution for you and your little one. And there is a padded area to support baby’s head.

Breathe.

Breathe is for cool moms, or at least moms who want to stay cool in hot weather. This pouch-style Infantino baby carrier is vented with BreatheMesh fabric making it a lightweight way to transport your baby. This carrier attaches easily with a buckle system that is literally a snap to put on. Included is the Clever Wonder Cover which is a bib from Infantino that keeps baby’s clothing and carrier neat and clean.

Bliss.

Just that little bit of extra coverage in the form of a cap sleeve gives mom a little more back support while carrying their little one – and especially as he or she becomes bigger. Sometimes transporting baby all day long through errands and shopping can take its toll. This Infantino baby carrier works well in the facing-in or front-facing positions.

EcoSash.

Most moms agree – the EcoSash carrier is one of the easiest ones to put on. You can easily carry your baby one of three ways – position him facing towards you, facing outward as a front facing baby carrier, or you can even carry baby around backpack style. There is a sweet little hood that is built in to protect baby from the outside elements. And there are no buckles to deal with – just wrap ‘em up, tie securely and you’re on your way. This carrier really does grow as your baby does.

Hoodie All Season.

When is a hoodie not a hoodie? When it becomes a cozy carrier cover for you and your baby. The Hoodie All Season carrier cover is made of the same sweatshirt style material that they make hoodies from. There is pocket for mom’s hands and a hood to keep baby protected from wind, rain and cold weather. It snaps on to your carrier quickly and easily.

Infinity.

This really is one Infantino baby carrier that can do it all. The Infinity has three ways to carry baby – facing towards you, facing outward, and backpack style. In addition, this carrier can fit easily into your shopping cart as well as the high chair at your favorite restaurant. You can easily run your errands, go grocery shopping and meet your hubby for dinner without having to lug around extra seats and covers.

Balance.

An ergonomically designed Infantino baby carrier which creates a natural sitting position for baby either facing in or as a backpack. With padded straps and lumber support for mum or dad as well.

Swift.

The Swift carrier is a simple basic style that is perfect when you want to just grab it and get on the road. Baby can face outward or in towards you. It evenly distributes the baby’s weight making it comfortable to carry your child without a lot of bulk and the back strap adjusts to give you the perfect fit. The Swift is easy to get on quickly with the buckle system that snaps in the front.

Sync Carrier.

This carrier can adapt to all sizes and body shapes with ease. The lumbar belt provides support for your back and the soft straps make the whole carrier fit just right while baby gets transported in comfort. Baby stays nice and close and snug as a bug.

Union.

The Union is one of the company’s Ergonomic Carriers making it comfortable to use especially for long periods of time. Baby is comfortable in a face-front position or hitching a backpack ride. Extra wide straps are adjustable and keep your shoulders free of pain. Baby’s seat is bucket style giving him enough support so he doesn’t slip down and need constant adjustments. Baby can continue to use this until he / she is about 36 months old or 40 lbs in weight, making it an ideal toddler carrier.

Flip.

Here is a cool carrier that Moms and Dads will both love. Baby has three different ways to ride – face-out, face-in, or backpack style. The lumbar belt expands to 52-inches so it can accommodate a number of sizes and shapes. The BreatheMesh material makes it a cool carrier even when the weather warms up. Also included is the company’s WonderCover which is a two-fold bib that keeps the carrier and baby’s clothing clean.

Sash Mei Tai.

Based on a carrying pattern that is centuries-old the Sash is an updated version of the mei tai baby carrier as opposed to a soft structured carrier. It is comfortable, flexible and adaptable to each body. This Infantino baby carrier lets you customize it to fit you perfectly and grows along with your little one. The detachable hood is there when you need it to keep baby shielded from the weather. Lumbar support and padded straps that are extra wide help keep you in comfort and focused on your baby.

ErgoBaby Carriers

Hawaii is the land of “No Worries,” and the birthplace of the Ergobaby Original Carrier. Born out of a need to be able to stay mobile and yet still have her baby close to her, Karin Frost came up with the original carrier design. She tested her product with other parents and even watched how the kids reacted to the carrier.

She made sure that the carrier was adjustable to both the parent and the child. Frost chose a nautilus as her logo because to her it represents the flexibility, evolution and “instinctive response” you need as you go through your everyday life. The company continues to grow but the passion and commitment remain the same.

Ergobaby Original Bundle of Joy Carrier

Ergobaby is the recipient of numerous awards for their stellar design. In 2011, Ergobaby carriers were named one of the Top 10 baby carriers in Pregnancy & Newborn Magazine. There’s no doubt that parents love the ergonomic design that distributes the baby’s weight evenly making it comfortable for them as well as the child.

The child is able to be transported while in a seated position with the padded waistbelt adjusting the baby’s weight between the shoulders to hip area. The shoulder straps are nicely padded to make sure that they don’t dig into you. The carrier is made of 100% cotton canvas with the lining made of 100% cotton poplin. The carrier itself is less than two pounds so you’re not going to feel weighted down. You can keep your little one close to you directly in the front, on your hip or even on your back.

New products continue to join the original Ergo-baby Original Bundle of Joy Carrier including the Ergobaby Sport Baby Carrier and the Ergobaby Organic Baby Carrier.

Ergobaby Original Collection Sport Carrier

The Ergobaby Sport Carrier has all of the award-winning features of the original collection. Along with the airy lightweight materials used in the carrier, there is a vent in the back to keep you and your baby cool, calm and collected no matter what the temperature is outside.

The Sport Carrier also has a few extra inches around the waist and on the shoulder strap so it will fit more people. It is larger than all of the other models so it will accommodate dads and moms of all sizes and shapes. The Sport Carrier can accommodate anyone from 5′ to 6′ 5″ tall. Babies from 7 pounds to 12 pounds, usually spanning up to 4 to 5 months.

The body of the Sport Carrier is made from a polyester/cotton blend. The lining is 100% cotton just like all the other carriers. At 1.21 pounds, the Sport Carrier is even lighter than the original, which weighed in at 1.8 pounds.

A comfortable addition to the Sport Carrier for baby is a sleeping hood. It is detachable but while attached it protects baby from the elements while supporting his head. It adjusts to baby’s growth with five different snap levels. There is a chest strap that adjusts and prevents baby from slipping. There is also a little pouch in the front where you can stash the sleeping hood or carry a few little items.

The Ergobaby Sport Carrier is able to work with the infant inserts, backpacks, weather covers, teething pads, and front pouches. It is reinforced at all intersecting areas for extra strength and safety. You can easily wash the sport carrier in the washing machine and air dry it or remove it from the delicate cycle of the dryer while the seams are still slightly wet. This carrier comes in 11 versatile colors and fabric designs.

The Ergobaby Organic Baby Carrier is an excellent option if you or your baby are susceptible to allergies or have sensitive skin issues. It also complies with your commitment to living a clean and organic lifestyle. The materials used in this carrier are 100% Oeko-Tex certified organic cotton.

When you choose the Ergobaby Carrier that is right for you and your baby, you will have the peace of mind knowing your baby is safe, close by and both of you are comfortable in your journey. • A rain cover will protect baby in case of a sudden and unexpected shower. The waterproof nylon cover can easily be snapped onto any of the carriers. You can also easily replace or add an additional hood or two. They come in a variety of colors and fabrics.

Chicco Baby Carrier

Chicco has a full line of products for baby. From highchairs and playpens, this company has just about everything you need to care for your little one. The Chicco baby carrier is available in three options – each that will transport your little guy or gal in total comfort.

Baby Carriers and Backpacks

It’s a simple fact that carrying your baby close by is good for both of you both. Your baby spent nine months being soothed by your heartbeat so holding him close to you is a natural transition. The movement of your body is already what he or she I used to so it will be easy for them to be lulled to sleep. And it will be a comfort for you to have your precious cargo tucked in close and securely to you, front or back.

Chicco baby carrier range.

The UltraSoft Carrier.

This cuddly Chicco baby carrier is best suited for infants and babies from 7.5 to 25 pounds. With its Italian design, the UltraSoft Carrier is just that, ultra soft. Unsurprisingly the UltraSoft carriers are both a form of soft structured carrier. Created to be worn in the front, this carrier has padded shoulder straps that can be easily adjusted for your comfort. Besides the comfy lining there is a special cuddle cloth that baby will love snuggling up with and a special washable cloth that snaps on in case baby spits up.

Adjustable straps make it easy to adapt to mom or dad. And the mesh panels on the side are vented keeping it nice and cool as it allows for an even flow of air. Everything has been thought of to make sure you and your baby have a safe, comfortable and carefree journey.

Chicco baby carrier – UltraSoft Magic Carrier

The Chicco UltraSoft Magic Carrier is the premium version of the UltraSoft Carrier. The seating area is upholstered and you can use this carrier in the front or back. The little vents on the side and the side panels made of mesh fabric help to keep this carrier cool. Just like the UltraSoft Carrier it includes the cuddle cloth and spit up cloth.

The shoulder straps easily adjust for front carrying or back. Chicco made sure that it included little ergonomic extras to ensure your comfort. There is a lumbar support that adjusts according to your height to give you the most enjoyable outings with your baby.

Like the Soleil in the Beco baby carrier range, there is a pocket in the front that is covered and two side pockets made of mesh. This makes it convenient for you to keep your keys and cell phone handy. Also included is a matching bag.

The UltraSoft 2-way carrier.

The beauty of this Chicco baby carrier – still part of the UltraSoft range – is that it can be used as a front facing baby carrier. So baby can face in and snuggle next to mon or dad, or face out and watch the world go by.

As with the others in the range there is the cuddle cloth and handy spit up cloth for baby. Also the usual padded straps for comfort.

Smart Support Backpack.

The Chicco Smart Support Backpack may appear heavier than it looks. At just 6.5 pounds, this Chicco baby carrier is a great way to keep your bigger children in tow and makes a perfect hiking baby carrier. The aluminum frame keeps these backpack baby carriers lightweight. The seat adjusts for your child so that it keeps pace with their growth. As in all their carriers the shoulder straps have a nice padding on them so that you don’t get worn out. There is lumbar support that is fully padded and the belt straps adjust to fit mommy or daddy.

One of the great features about the Smart Support Backpack is that you can put it down and it is a stable freestanding unit. No worries about it rocking so you can load and unload your child safely and securely.

Another nice touch is the weather shield that zips over the front protecting your child from rain, wind or too much sun. It’s a comfort to know that your little one can enjoy his ride without having to deal with the elements.

When it’s time to tuck it away, the Chicco Smart Support Backpack simply folds up flat making it easy to store and keep in your car. This backpack holds kids up to 40 pounds.

Boba Wrap

When it comes to carrying your baby around you will find that you have many options available to you. There are wraps and slings and hammocks and backpacks. You will need to try them out to find the ones that are the most comfortable for you and your baby.

Boba has several sturdy front and back carriers you may want to check out. They also carry baby wraps. Especially easy for new moms and dads, these wraps fit over your head and wrap your baby close to you in a secure and cozy manner.

And at this point it may be worth clearing up an important issue – a Boba Wrap is exactly the same as a Sleepy Wrap. At one time they were sold as completely separate items although both manufactured by Boba. Today they are one and the same and are sold under the same brand as the Boba baby carrier range.

The Boba Wrap / Sleepy Wrap.

The Boba Wrap is just the thing for infants and toddlers up to 18 months. Easy to use for new parents, this wrap has no heavy buckles or snaps to hurt your baby. Your baby‘s head is supported while they sleep. It provides a perfect fit for your little one, not too tight and not too loose. The Boba Wrap easily adapts to nursing moms providing a discreet environment to feed your baby without having to even move him or her.

The Boba Wrap is made of durable cotton with just enough spandex to add extra flexibility. This wrap will not lose its shape even after years of washing. It’s reasonably priced and a good carrier to start with, although it’s durable enough to last for years.

There are nine different solid colors to choose from for your Boba Wrap. If you prefer, there is a Boba Wrap that has two different prints available, Ocean and Stardust. The Organic Boba Wrap is only available in Khaki. It is made from 95% organic cotton and 5% spandex. There are no dyes or other harsh ingredients used to make this wrap.

How to Put on a Boba Wrap.

The great thing about this wrap is it is easy to put on. It distributes your baby’s weight evenly so you don’t have to worry about back pains later on. There are full instructions including the different ways to carry your baby on the Boba website.

It may look complicated but it only takes six steps to get the Boba Wrap on.

  • Hold the wrap outstretched with the logo facing away from you. With the wrap right around as high as your navel, bring the sides of the material around your back.
  • Cross each piece of material across your back to the other side and throw it over the opposite shoulder crisscrossing in the back.
  • Take both sections together in the front and tuck them under the mid-section where the logo is and pull them through.
  • Pull the two pieces down until the waist section with the logo on it moves upward and is snug against your body.
  • Take the two hanging pieces and cross them over each other in front and then bring them to the back.
  • Cross the pieces in the back and then bring them to the front. If there’s not enough material to bring back to the front you can simply tie them in back. If you can bring them in front tie them securely in front or on the side.

Once you get the hang of getting the wrap securely tied on you will be surprised at how easy it is. First get acquainted with the Basic Tie. This is what you will probably use most of the time. Then try the Newborn Hold if you have an infant. After you get to be a pro, try the Love Your Baby Hold.

You will receive a Babywearing Safety Manual with your Boba Wrap or you can always refer back to the website.

If you’re a fan of these baby carriers then you may also like to consider the Maya Wrap, Moby Wrap or Seven Slings.

Boba Baby Carrier

Voted Top Baby Carrier for 2012.

Boba Baby Carrier: Besides being a popular way of transporting your little ones, the Boba Carrier 3G was voted the favorite out of 15 baby products by Baby Center. The decision was based on reviews by parents who bought and used the Boba Wrap. The site conducted its own reviews and also took into consideration the input of baby gear specialist Jamie Grayson.

Boba 3G.

The Boba 3G won the award based on the comfort level it extended to children from 7 to 45 pounds. As a soft structured carrier it is easy to use, sturdy enough to hold infants to toddlers, and comfortable for you and baby whether it’s worn in the front or in back.

The 100% cotton carrier has a removablehood used when baby is sleeping or to protect him or her from the sun or rain. This hood is adjustable so you can continue to use it as baby grows. A unique feature is the removable foot straps that keep baby‘s feet from dangling. These innovative straps are unique to Boba.

Included are head support adjustments for small babies with a 2″ to 3″ increase in the height of the carrier. The carrier fits all size parents with its adjustable straps and bands. No extra equipment, such as an extension belt is necessary.

There are nine different colors and patterns available. From Montenegro (black) to safari (tan) with plenty of pretty prints in between.

Boba 4G.

Very similar to the 3G this also carries infants from 7 – 45 pounds by using the integrated infant insert if required. The many straps enable the 4G to be adjusted for both mom and dad and as baby grows.

Other accessories include a sleeping hood and foot straps together with purse strap holders and loads of pockets for mom.

Again there’s a whole range of colors to choose from including dusk, safari and glacier.

Boba Baby Carrier Air.

This lightweight carrier weighs less than one pound but can easily carry children from 15 to 45 pounds, so is an ideal toddler carrier. Made from 100 % nylon material, you can wear the Boba Air in the front or on your back. The soft structured carrier cleans up easily which is invaluable when dealing with kids. You don’t have to fold it up precisely. Simply jam it back into the large pocket that is included. This carrier also comes with a sleeping hood that can be used to protect your baby from the elements. The BobaAir is adjustable and easily fits parents of all sizes.

Little Extras That Mean a Lot. In addition to their line of wraps, there are additional items that are available to make your life easier.

Boba Vest.

The Boba Vest is made to wear over your Boba carrier when the weather gets cooler. Made from a comfy fleece material, this convenient vest has a large tube pocket in front and zips on and off from the side.

It is compact enough that you can still wear a jacket or sweater over it to keep warm.

Boba Mini.

The Boba Mini is a great way to make big sister or big brother feel included.

A smaller version of the Boba 3G, the mini version of this carrier lets kids 3 years of age and older tuck in their dolls or toys and feel just like mommy or daddy.

A form of soft toy / baby doll carrier is also produced by other carrier manufacturers such as the Beco baby carrier, Ergobaby carriers and Moby Wrap.

Another item you can pick up separately is a sweet little Carrier Stuff Sack. The 100% cotton sack holds your Boba baby carrier easily and conveniently when you’re not using it. Just roll up your wrap or carrier and stash it inside.

Boba Baby Carrier offers Organic Teething Pads that conveniently attach to the shoulder strap of the carrier. The reversible pad is free from dyes. Perfect for little ones who like to put everything in their mouths, especially when teething.

If your baby carrier doesn’t include foot straps or a sleep hood you can purchase them individually. Once you get them you will wonder how you got along without them. Check out these accessories as well as the Boba carriers.

Beco Baby Carrier

The Beco Baby Carrier began life in 2005 as the brain child of parent Gabby Caperon. They have since gained the reputation of being of extremely high quality, long lasting and eco-friendly. They have also won several awards over the past few years. Because of this they are highly recommended by all industry experts.

The Beco Baby Carrier Range.

There are three ranges available – Soleil, Gemini and Butterfly 2 (now discontinued). The first two of these are available in a whole range of colors and each is an example of a soft structured carrier. Let’s take a look at each one…..

Beco Soleil Baby Carrier.

There are three possible carry positions with the Soleil carrier – back carry, hip carry and front facing in. Mom or dad can carry their newborn (using the carrier insert) right up to when they are about 45 lbs in weight.

They are padded all over to ensure the maximum comfort for both parent and baby. This includes shoulder straps, headrest and leg supports. You can also fit a hood for baby which is sold separately. Each Beco Baby Carrier within this range will fit a parent of 5′ – 6’5″ in height and with a waist of between 27′ – 59′.

The Soleil range all incorporate a waist pocket for storage of diapers and / or accessories and are 1.3 lbs in weight.

Please do be aware that there are many differing colors and patterns available – not just the one shown.

Accessories include a detachable hood, a carry bag which can be attached and drooling pads.

Beco Gemini Baby Carrier.

The Gemini range is very similar to the Soleil range of baby carriers but with the following differences:-

  • will carry baby up to the weight of about 35 bls.
  • will carry a newborn without the need for an insert.
  • has a forth carrying position – it can be used as a front facing baby carrier.
  • headrest is adjustable.
  • no waist pocket.
  • no hood is available.

Again – take a look at the huge range of available colors in this Beco Baby Carrier product range.

Beco Butterfly 2 Baby Carrier.

This product was discontinued by Beco in late 2012 and replaced by the newer Soleil range. It is however is still available through several Beco authorised distributors. There are two main differences with this range. The first is that they are considerably heavier at 1.8 lbs. The second – and very positive aspect – is their flexibility. Most reviews will emphasise the fact that this Beco baby carrier can be transferred from one person to another without taking baby out first. This feature also means that baby can be ‘preloaded’ before putting the carrier on.

The price however is comparable with both the Soleil and Gemini.

But there is a also fourth Beco Baby Carrier ‘range’ to mention ……..

Beco Mini baby Carrier.

This is one of those clever ideas which have been adopted by several of the large baby carrier manufacturers. Ergobaby carriers, the Boba baby carrier and Moby Wrap all produce something similar.

The theory is simple! Firstly it is a toy which is a teddy or baby doll carrier. But it is more than that. Older siblings who may feel jealous of the attention received by their new brother or sister can literally join in by having their very own Beco baby carrier.

Baby K’tan

There are so many baby carriers on the market today it’s hard to determine which one is best for you and your child. Many of the more successful carriers (such as the BabyHawk and ErgoBaby carriers) have been created by moms and dads who found a niche after not finding a carrier that suited their specific needs. This is the way that the Baby K’tan baby carrier was born.

The story behind the Baby K’Tan Baby Carrier.

The Chesal family and the Wernick family had been good friends for years. The two families were dealing with children who had special issues that needed to be dealt with in addition to other children that were in the family.

Michal Chesal’s son Coby was born in 1999 with Down syndrome. In addition, he had a condition that resulted in low muscle tone called hypotonia. Dedicated to keeping her son close to her but also comfortable, Michal set out to find a carrier that didn’t require Coby’s legs to be spread out so far apart. She began working with designs that didn’t require the excessive abduction that most carriers did. She ultimately created the K’Tan carrier after modifying many slings and carriers that were already on the market.

In the Wernick family, their son Eitan was born in 2003 and suffered from a heart defect that is relatively rare but very serious. The defect is called TAPVR and at just 4-weeks old, young Eitan was able to make it through open-heart surgery successfully at Miami Children’s Hospital. They too were concerned with the comfort and safety for their child and began working with Michal and her designs to come up with the best baby carrier they could for these special needs children.

What is the Baby K’Tan Baby Carrier?

So how does the Baby K tan Baby Carrier differ from the other carriers on the market today? They have labeled their carrier the “baby wrap without all the wrapping.” The company shows a comparison between their carrier and all the effort required to put on and adjust a baby wrap. The Baby K’Tan incorporates the best parts of a wrap, a carrier, and a sling so you can enjoy all the good parts of each.

It allows for multiple positions and one carrier that can accommodate a baby from birth to about 3 years of age.

How do you put on a Baby K’Tan?

The Baby K’Tan is easy to put on and comes in two pieces. It starts with two round pieces of material that you slip into and adjust to get the right position for your baby. The carrier can keep babies comfortable from 8 pounds up to 35 pounds. The way that the double shoulder piece goes on keeps the weigh evenly distributed. There are no buckles to worry about, no straps to deal with and no wrapping around your body until you find a comfortable spot.

Once the baby is put into place a back support band is wrapped around from front to back giving you extra support for your baby, especially needed as he or she begins to grow. The material that is used is a stretchy 100 percent cotton knit. The material is nice and wide and provides a comfortable place for baby to rest his head.

What is the K’tan Breeze?

This is exactly the same as the original carrier but is half cotton and half mesh. Some parents may prefer this option as it reduces heat and moisture. This can make it more comfortable for you both.

Can I use my carrier for twins?

Baby K’tans have certainly been used as twin baby slings in the past and many parents do continue to use them this way. However – the manufacturer clearly states that they don’t recommend this for safety reasons. Take a look at our page on twin carriers for some safer options.

Does one size fit all?

An interesting difference in the Baby K’Tan Baby Carrier is that even though it can hold babies from infancy to toddler stage, the size of the carrier is determined by the size of the person who will be carrying the baby. One size does not fit all here. You have to find your pre-pregnancy size to find the right size Baby K’Tan carrier for you.

Sizes are available for men and women based on clothing sizes for women and suit sizes for men. Women’s sizes range from XS (0-4) up to XL (18-22). Men will find the range in suit sizes from 38 to 50. The purpose of the sizes is to make sure everyone gets the closest fit when transporting their little ones. It’s hard to think of a man who wears a size 42 suit getting the same fit from a carrier that fits a woman wearing a size 4 dress.

And the styles and accessories?

While the carrier itself is simple, there are a number of colors and prints to choose from. Nifty shades of grey has a plaid look while denim is great for moms and dads. Heather grey and eggplant offer some colors to work into your wardrobe as well as sage green, black breeze and white breeze. There is a version available that comes in a natural organic material for those who have any sensitivities.

The company also offers some accessories you can purchase separately. The K’Tan Cloth is made of a breathable mesh micro fiber that can be used as a nursing cover, a burp cloth, or as a blanket to keep baby warm. It has an easy to use Velcro attachment so you can keep it handy when needed.

There are matching convertible sashes that can be used as a pouch to carry your Baby K’Tan.

They also offer something called Teething Bling that was created by Smart Mom Jewelry LLC. How many times does your baby go for your hanging necklace? Now the necklace is a teething toy that is safe for your baby to pull on and even put in his mouth. Teething Bling pieces adhere to the strictest safety standards here and abroad.

BabyHawk Baby Carrier

Many baby carriers are created by the one person who uses them the most – the mom – such as the Snugli baby carrier and Pikkolo baby carrier. And the BabyHawk is no different. Eight years ago, Robyn Bellovich had just given birth to her second child and was looking for one carrier that was comfortable while freeing her up to do all the things that moms need to do in a day. As someone who was going to be using this carrier herself, her heart and soul were in it. She wanted to help make being a parent just a little bit easier for everyone, herself included.

Her first creation was a Mei Tai baby carrier. While it sounds like a cocktail you order during happy hour, it is actually a carrier that is inspired by a Chinese design that allows you to hold your baby on the front, hip or back safely and comfortably. The Baby Hawk Mei Tai is easy to get on and off quickly. The main thing is that it distributes the baby’s weight more evenly so you can keep going for longer periods of time.

It is now 8 years and 2 more kids later and as a mother of four children, Robyn began looking for carriers that could accommodate the growing size of her children without having to buy different carriers for each little one. In addition to the Mei Tai she has added a structured carrier called Oh Snap!

Here are the styles of BabyHawk carriers that are available today.

The original BabyHawk Mei Tai – for newborns to toddlers up to 40lbs.

The design originated from a Chinese babywearing method of old that was one of the first baby carriers. It used a large piece of cloth that was brought together with all four corners tied together. The Mei Tai has many different patterns and colors and each one provides three positions to safely and comfortably carry your baby – on the front, on the back, and on the hip. The Mei Tai can be tied to securely fit your body. Sizes go up to XXL with options for longer straps to accommodate a variety of body shapes.

Some of the different patterns include:

  • Ahoy! Features a blue anchor on a white fabric carrier
  • “Birth Without Fear” is printed in black against a grey background
  • Camo – perfect for Dads
  • An assortment of lovely patterns and prints with something for everyone

BabyHawk Oh Snap! – for babies 15lbs to 45lbs.

The Oh Snap! is a decked out version of the regular soft structured carrier. It has buckles that adjust at the waist making it easy to fit just about any size person. Top straps easily accommodate different heights, from petite moms to tall dads. The Oh Snap! can be worn two ways, with baby in the front or on the back.

Because the BabyHawk Oh Snap can carry up to 45lbs it also makes an ideal toddler carrier.

There are nine different patterns available for the BabyHawk Oh Snap! carrier, most of them the same as the Mei Tei. You can wash your Oh Snap! carrier is machine washable but it is suggested you spot clean with a wet sponge and line dry.

How to put on your BabyHawk Mei Tai.

Many parents are put off the Mei Tai because of reservations regarding putting it on. Take a look at this video to see how easy it is (with a little bit of practise!).

All of the materials that Robyn uses in her BabyHawk carriers are pre-washed and put through the dryer so that they won’t shrink. The straps are all ample and can accommodate a variety of different shaped moms and dads. She made sure that the shoulder straps are padded for the parent wearing it and put in a headrest for baby’s comfort.

All of the BabyHawk carriers are made in California using 100% cotton chino twill and the softness and extra support comes from a 100% cotton that is used for quilting. Her commitment remains the same and is evident in all of her baby carriers. Parents should be able to keep their baby close to them and both should be able to safely stay close and comfortable for long periods of time.

All Mei Tai carriers are machine washable. It’s suggested to use just a small amount of laundry detergent in cold water and line dry.

A nice addition is the strap protectors cleverly called Oh Spit! A wise investment for anyone carrying small babies.
