Boba Wrap

When it comes to carrying your baby around you will find that you have many options available to you. There are wraps and slings and hammocks and backpacks. You will need to try them out to find the ones that are the most comfortable for you and your baby.

Boba has several sturdy front and back carriers you may want to check out. They also carry baby wraps. Especially easy for new moms and dads, these wraps fit over your head and wrap your baby close to you in a secure and cozy manner.

And at this point it may be worth clearing up an important issue – a Boba Wrap is exactly the same as a Sleepy Wrap. At one time they were sold as completely separate items although both manufactured by Boba. Today they are one and the same and are sold under the same brand as the Boba baby carrier range.

The Boba Wrap / Sleepy Wrap.

The Boba Wrap is just the thing for infants and toddlers up to 18 months. Easy to use for new parents, this wrap has no heavy buckles or snaps to hurt your baby. Your baby‘s head is supported while they sleep. It provides a perfect fit for your little one, not too tight and not too loose. The Boba Wrap easily adapts to nursing moms providing a discreet environment to feed your baby without having to even move him or her.

The Boba Wrap is made of durable cotton with just enough spandex to add extra flexibility. This wrap will not lose its shape even after years of washing. It’s reasonably priced and a good carrier to start with, although it’s durable enough to last for years.

There are nine different solid colors to choose from for your Boba Wrap. If you prefer, there is a Boba Wrap that has two different prints available, Ocean and Stardust. The Organic Boba Wrap is only available in Khaki. It is made from 95% organic cotton and 5% spandex. There are no dyes or other harsh ingredients used to make this wrap.

How to Put on a Boba Wrap.

The great thing about this wrap is it is easy to put on. It distributes your baby’s weight evenly so you don’t have to worry about back pains later on. There are full instructions including the different ways to carry your baby on the Boba website.

It may look complicated but it only takes six steps to get the Boba Wrap on.

  • Hold the wrap outstretched with the logo facing away from you. With the wrap right around as high as your navel, bring the sides of the material around your back.
  • Cross each piece of material across your back to the other side and throw it over the opposite shoulder crisscrossing in the back.
  • Take both sections together in the front and tuck them under the mid-section where the logo is and pull them through.
  • Pull the two pieces down until the waist section with the logo on it moves upward and is snug against your body.
  • Take the two hanging pieces and cross them over each other in front and then bring them to the back.
  • Cross the pieces in the back and then bring them to the front. If there’s not enough material to bring back to the front you can simply tie them in back. If you can bring them in front tie them securely in front or on the side.

Once you get the hang of getting the wrap securely tied on you will be surprised at how easy it is. First get acquainted with the Basic Tie. This is what you will probably use most of the time. Then try the Newborn Hold if you have an infant. After you get to be a pro, try the Love Your Baby Hold.

You will receive a Babywearing Safety Manual with your Boba Wrap or you can always refer back to the website.

If you’re a fan of these baby carriers then you may also like to consider the Maya Wrap, Moby Wrap or Seven Slings.

Boba Baby Carrier

Voted Top Baby Carrier for 2012.

Boba Baby Carrier: Besides being a popular way of transporting your little ones, the Boba Carrier 3G was voted the favorite out of 15 baby products by Baby Center. The decision was based on reviews by parents who bought and used the Boba Wrap. The site conducted its own reviews and also took into consideration the input of baby gear specialist Jamie Grayson.

Boba 3G.

The Boba 3G won the award based on the comfort level it extended to children from 7 to 45 pounds. As a soft structured carrier it is easy to use, sturdy enough to hold infants to toddlers, and comfortable for you and baby whether it’s worn in the front or in back.

The 100% cotton carrier has a removablehood used when baby is sleeping or to protect him or her from the sun or rain. This hood is adjustable so you can continue to use it as baby grows. A unique feature is the removable foot straps that keep baby‘s feet from dangling. These innovative straps are unique to Boba.

Included are head support adjustments for small babies with a 2″ to 3″ increase in the height of the carrier. The carrier fits all size parents with its adjustable straps and bands. No extra equipment, such as an extension belt is necessary.

There are nine different colors and patterns available. From Montenegro (black) to safari (tan) with plenty of pretty prints in between.

Boba 4G.

Very similar to the 3G this also carries infants from 7 – 45 pounds by using the integrated infant insert if required. The many straps enable the 4G to be adjusted for both mom and dad and as baby grows.

Other accessories include a sleeping hood and foot straps together with purse strap holders and loads of pockets for mom.

Again there’s a whole range of colors to choose from including dusk, safari and glacier.

Boba Baby Carrier Air.

This lightweight carrier weighs less than one pound but can easily carry children from 15 to 45 pounds, so is an ideal toddler carrier. Made from 100 % nylon material, you can wear the Boba Air in the front or on your back. The soft structured carrier cleans up easily which is invaluable when dealing with kids. You don’t have to fold it up precisely. Simply jam it back into the large pocket that is included. This carrier also comes with a sleeping hood that can be used to protect your baby from the elements. The BobaAir is adjustable and easily fits parents of all sizes.

Little Extras That Mean a Lot. In addition to their line of wraps, there are additional items that are available to make your life easier.

Boba Vest.

The Boba Vest is made to wear over your Boba carrier when the weather gets cooler. Made from a comfy fleece material, this convenient vest has a large tube pocket in front and zips on and off from the side.

It is compact enough that you can still wear a jacket or sweater over it to keep warm.

Boba Mini.

The Boba Mini is a great way to make big sister or big brother feel included.

A smaller version of the Boba 3G, the mini version of this carrier lets kids 3 years of age and older tuck in their dolls or toys and feel just like mommy or daddy.

A form of soft toy / baby doll carrier is also produced by other carrier manufacturers such as the Beco baby carrier, Ergobaby carriers and Moby Wrap.

Another item you can pick up separately is a sweet little Carrier Stuff Sack. The 100% cotton sack holds your Boba baby carrier easily and conveniently when you’re not using it. Just roll up your wrap or carrier and stash it inside.

Boba Baby Carrier offers Organic Teething Pads that conveniently attach to the shoulder strap of the carrier. The reversible pad is free from dyes. Perfect for little ones who like to put everything in their mouths, especially when teething.

If your baby carrier doesn’t include foot straps or a sleep hood you can purchase them individually. Once you get them you will wonder how you got along without them. Check out these accessories as well as the Boba carriers.

Beco Baby Carrier

The Beco Baby Carrier began life in 2005 as the brain child of parent Gabby Caperon. They have since gained the reputation of being of extremely high quality, long lasting and eco-friendly. They have also won several awards over the past few years. Because of this they are highly recommended by all industry experts.

The Beco Baby Carrier Range.

There are three ranges available – Soleil, Gemini and Butterfly 2 (now discontinued). The first two of these are available in a whole range of colors and each is an example of a soft structured carrier. Let’s take a look at each one…..

Beco Soleil Baby Carrier.

There are three possible carry positions with the Soleil carrier – back carry, hip carry and front facing in. Mom or dad can carry their newborn (using the carrier insert) right up to when they are about 45 lbs in weight.

They are padded all over to ensure the maximum comfort for both parent and baby. This includes shoulder straps, headrest and leg supports. You can also fit a hood for baby which is sold separately. Each Beco Baby Carrier within this range will fit a parent of 5′ – 6’5″ in height and with a waist of between 27′ – 59′.

The Soleil range all incorporate a waist pocket for storage of diapers and / or accessories and are 1.3 lbs in weight.

Please do be aware that there are many differing colors and patterns available – not just the one shown.

Accessories include a detachable hood, a carry bag which can be attached and drooling pads.

Beco Gemini Baby Carrier.

The Gemini range is very similar to the Soleil range of baby carriers but with the following differences:-

  • will carry baby up to the weight of about 35 bls.
  • will carry a newborn without the need for an insert.
  • has a forth carrying position – it can be used as a front facing baby carrier.
  • headrest is adjustable.
  • no waist pocket.
  • no hood is available.

Again – take a look at the huge range of available colors in this Beco Baby Carrier product range.

Beco Butterfly 2 Baby Carrier.

This product was discontinued by Beco in late 2012 and replaced by the newer Soleil range. It is however is still available through several Beco authorised distributors. There are two main differences with this range. The first is that they are considerably heavier at 1.8 lbs. The second – and very positive aspect – is their flexibility. Most reviews will emphasise the fact that this Beco baby carrier can be transferred from one person to another without taking baby out first. This feature also means that baby can be ‘preloaded’ before putting the carrier on.

The price however is comparable with both the Soleil and Gemini.

But there is a also fourth Beco Baby Carrier ‘range’ to mention ……..

Beco Mini baby Carrier.

This is one of those clever ideas which have been adopted by several of the large baby carrier manufacturers. Ergobaby carriers, the Boba baby carrier and Moby Wrap all produce something similar.

The theory is simple! Firstly it is a toy which is a teddy or baby doll carrier. But it is more than that. Older siblings who may feel jealous of the attention received by their new brother or sister can literally join in by having their very own Beco baby carrier.

Baby K’tan

There are so many baby carriers on the market today it’s hard to determine which one is best for you and your child. Many of the more successful carriers (such as the BabyHawk and ErgoBaby carriers) have been created by moms and dads who found a niche after not finding a carrier that suited their specific needs. This is the way that the Baby K’tan baby carrier was born.

The story behind the Baby K’Tan Baby Carrier.

The Chesal family and the Wernick family had been good friends for years. The two families were dealing with children who had special issues that needed to be dealt with in addition to other children that were in the family.

Michal Chesal’s son Coby was born in 1999 with Down syndrome. In addition, he had a condition that resulted in low muscle tone called hypotonia. Dedicated to keeping her son close to her but also comfortable, Michal set out to find a carrier that didn’t require Coby’s legs to be spread out so far apart. She began working with designs that didn’t require the excessive abduction that most carriers did. She ultimately created the K’Tan carrier after modifying many slings and carriers that were already on the market.

In the Wernick family, their son Eitan was born in 2003 and suffered from a heart defect that is relatively rare but very serious. The defect is called TAPVR and at just 4-weeks old, young Eitan was able to make it through open-heart surgery successfully at Miami Children’s Hospital. They too were concerned with the comfort and safety for their child and began working with Michal and her designs to come up with the best baby carrier they could for these special needs children.

What is the Baby K’Tan Baby Carrier?

So how does the Baby K tan Baby Carrier differ from the other carriers on the market today? They have labeled their carrier the “baby wrap without all the wrapping.” The company shows a comparison between their carrier and all the effort required to put on and adjust a baby wrap. The Baby K’Tan incorporates the best parts of a wrap, a carrier, and a sling so you can enjoy all the good parts of each.

It allows for multiple positions and one carrier that can accommodate a baby from birth to about 3 years of age.

How do you put on a Baby K’Tan?

The Baby K’Tan is easy to put on and comes in two pieces. It starts with two round pieces of material that you slip into and adjust to get the right position for your baby. The carrier can keep babies comfortable from 8 pounds up to 35 pounds. The way that the double shoulder piece goes on keeps the weigh evenly distributed. There are no buckles to worry about, no straps to deal with and no wrapping around your body until you find a comfortable spot.

Once the baby is put into place a back support band is wrapped around from front to back giving you extra support for your baby, especially needed as he or she begins to grow. The material that is used is a stretchy 100 percent cotton knit. The material is nice and wide and provides a comfortable place for baby to rest his head.

What is the K’tan Breeze?

This is exactly the same as the original carrier but is half cotton and half mesh. Some parents may prefer this option as it reduces heat and moisture. This can make it more comfortable for you both.

Can I use my carrier for twins?

Baby K’tans have certainly been used as twin baby slings in the past and many parents do continue to use them this way. However – the manufacturer clearly states that they don’t recommend this for safety reasons. Take a look at our page on twin carriers for some safer options.

Does one size fit all?

An interesting difference in the Baby K’Tan Baby Carrier is that even though it can hold babies from infancy to toddler stage, the size of the carrier is determined by the size of the person who will be carrying the baby. One size does not fit all here. You have to find your pre-pregnancy size to find the right size Baby K’Tan carrier for you.

Sizes are available for men and women based on clothing sizes for women and suit sizes for men. Women’s sizes range from XS (0-4) up to XL (18-22). Men will find the range in suit sizes from 38 to 50. The purpose of the sizes is to make sure everyone gets the closest fit when transporting their little ones. It’s hard to think of a man who wears a size 42 suit getting the same fit from a carrier that fits a woman wearing a size 4 dress.

And the styles and accessories?

While the carrier itself is simple, there are a number of colors and prints to choose from. Nifty shades of grey has a plaid look while denim is great for moms and dads. Heather grey and eggplant offer some colors to work into your wardrobe as well as sage green, black breeze and white breeze. There is a version available that comes in a natural organic material for those who have any sensitivities.

The company also offers some accessories you can purchase separately. The K’Tan Cloth is made of a breathable mesh micro fiber that can be used as a nursing cover, a burp cloth, or as a blanket to keep baby warm. It has an easy to use Velcro attachment so you can keep it handy when needed.

There are matching convertible sashes that can be used as a pouch to carry your Baby K’Tan.

They also offer something called Teething Bling that was created by Smart Mom Jewelry LLC. How many times does your baby go for your hanging necklace? Now the necklace is a teething toy that is safe for your baby to pull on and even put in his mouth. Teething Bling pieces adhere to the strictest safety standards here and abroad.

In addition, the company offers a DVD that teaches babies how to sign and there is a pet carrier that is meant for small and disabled dogs that need help in being transported. These carriers should not be used for babies and the Baby K’Tan carriers should not be used for animals.

More and more parents chose to keep their little ones close to them for safety and comfort. It is an easy an economical way to transport your baby throughout the years. Find a K’Tan Baby Carrier that fits your lifestyle and you won’t have to worry about getting a wrap to fit correctly again.

BabyHawk Baby Carrier

Many baby carriers are created by the one person who uses them the most – the mom – such as the Snugli baby carrier and Pikkolo baby carrier. And the BabyHawk is no different. Eight years ago, Robyn Bellovich had just given birth to her second child and was looking for one carrier that was comfortable while freeing her up to do all the things that moms need to do in a day. As someone who was going to be using this carrier herself, her heart and soul were in it. She wanted to help make being a parent just a little bit easier for everyone, herself included.

Her first creation was a Mei Tai baby carrier. While it sounds like a cocktail you order during happy hour, it is actually a carrier that is inspired by a Chinese design that allows you to hold your baby on the front, hip or back safely and comfortably. The Baby Hawk Mei Tai is easy to get on and off quickly. The main thing is that it distributes the baby’s weight more evenly so you can keep going for longer periods of time.

It is now 8 years and 2 more kids later and as a mother of four children, Robyn began looking for carriers that could accommodate the growing size of her children without having to buy different carriers for each little one. In addition to the Mei Tai she has added a structured carrier called Oh Snap!

Here are the styles of BabyHawk carriers that are available today.

The original BabyHawk Mei Tai – for newborns to toddlers up to 40lbs.

The design originated from a Chinese babywearing method of old that was one of the first baby carriers. It used a large piece of cloth that was brought together with all four corners tied together. The Mei Tai has many different patterns and colors and each one provides three positions to safely and comfortably carry your baby – on the front, on the back, and on the hip. The Mei Tai can be tied to securely fit your body. Sizes go up to XXL with options for longer straps to accommodate a variety of body shapes.

Some of the different patterns include:

  • Ahoy! Features a blue anchor on a white fabric carrier
  • “Birth Without Fear” is printed in black against a grey background
  • Camo – perfect for Dads
  • An assortment of lovely patterns and prints with something for everyone

BabyHawk Oh Snap! – for babies 15lbs to 45lbs.

The Oh Snap! is a decked out version of the regular soft structured carrier. It has buckles that adjust at the waist making it easy to fit just about any size person. Top straps easily accommodate different heights, from petite moms to tall dads. The Oh Snap! can be worn two ways, with baby in the front or on the back.

Because the BabyHawk Oh Snap can carry up to 45lbs it also makes an ideal toddler carrier.

There are nine different patterns available for the BabyHawk Oh Snap! carrier, most of them the same as the Mei Tei. You can wash your Oh Snap! carrier is machine washable but it is suggested you spot clean with a wet sponge and line dry.

How to put on your BabyHawk Mei Tai.

Many parents are put off the Mei Tai because of reservations regarding putting it on. Take a look at this video to see how easy it is (with a little bit of practise!).

All of the materials that Robyn uses in her BabyHawk carriers are pre-washed and put through the dryer so that they won’t shrink. The straps are all ample and can accommodate a variety of different shaped moms and dads. She made sure that the shoulder straps are padded for the parent wearing it and put in a headrest for baby’s comfort.

All of the BabyHawk carriers are made in California using 100% cotton chino twill and the softness and extra support comes from a 100% cotton that is used for quilting. Her commitment remains the same and is evident in all of her baby carriers. Parents should be able to keep their baby close to them and both should be able to safely stay close and comfortable for long periods of time.

All Mei Tai carriers are machine washable. It’s suggested to use just a small amount of laundry detergent in cold water and line dry.

A nice addition is the strap protectors cleverly called Oh Spit! A wise investment for anyone carrying small babies.
